Back in the Summer of 2010, Jamie Burkart and I canoed down the Blue river in Kansas City. We towed the canoe with our bikes, and then ferried our bikes down the river with the canoe, and then towed the canoe back home with our bikes again. It’s the perfect system.
The map above shows our route. The yellow line is our path down to the water, the blue shows our trip along the river, and the red shows our route back home. The warning symbol is where there’s a dam with a 20ft dropoff. This is where we hiked a path through the wooded area, brought our bikes down, and then carried the canoe down to the water.
The trip was amazing, and I think everyone should try urban canoeing.
